DESCRIPTION

The Ferropista intends to apply an innovative transport system consisting of a railway link connecting the towns of Armenia and Ibagué in the Central Mountain Range (‘Cordillera Central’), through the construction of a 58 km of total length railway section, which includes a base tunnel under the Central Mountain Range (‘Cordillera Central’) of 44.2 km length.

  • Base tunnel for single road: 44.2 + 8 km.

  • Operation speed: 120 km/h.

  • Radius in plan-view: 3,000 – 20,000 m.

  • Maximum slope: 12 ‰

  • Maximum mountain above the tunnel: 1,900 m.

  • Electric traction.

  • Automation and Control Center.

  • UIC international standard track width (1,435 mm.), on the concrete plate

  • Free zones: logistics, industry, commerce, hospitality and services.

  • Up to 5 cross-access galleries (16 km).

  • Double tunnel section (14 km.) anda security station.

  • Two large transshipment stations: access, tolls, security and free zones.
